Your child’s dentist will give you post-op instructions, and it’s important you follow these. They will detail guidelines that will help your loved one heal properly and efficiently. By sticking to them, you can feel confident knowing you are helping them avoid complications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2.)  Deal with Pain and Swelling<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

During your child\u2019s procedure, they will be thoroughly numbed and given dental sedation<\/a>. To give them relief, you can have them apply a cold pack for 15-minute intervals or give them their prescribed or over-the-counter medication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The more they run around and do a lot of activity, the more they risk increasing bleeding and delaying their healing. Consider having calm days planned with movie and game nights or reading books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5.)  Ensure Your Child Brushes and Flosses<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Making sure your child brushes and flosses is still crucial after an extraction. However, they will need to be careful around the extraction site, so be sure to let them know to be gentle. That way, they can get rid of bacteria and plaque that can turn into problems later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6.)  Look Out for Signs of Trouble<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As your loved one recovers, you should double-check to make sure it\u2019s going smoothly. If they tell you that their discomfort is worsening, or they have a fever, persistent bleeding, or swelling, then you should call their dentist.
