
Although dentistry itself can be dated back to 5000 BCE, the concept of pediatric dentistry is much newer. In fact, it’s only been around since the 1900s. It began more specifically 1913, when the Fones Clinic for Dental Hygienists in Bridgeport, Connecticut sent young female students into the local schools to clean children’s teeth. Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, a woman by the name of Minnie Evangeline Jordon opened her own pediatric dental clinic after she was encouraged by studies on the effects of sugar on the teeth.
