Dr. Purdy, Dr. Curtin, and Dr. Martinez are pleased to welcome you and your child to our Bakersfield dental office and are eager to provide the kind of care your little one needs and deserves. But before their initial visit, we want to make sure you are fully prepared and informed about the finer details associated with our practice. Your Child’s First Visit
The moment you and your child walk through our doors, you’ll be greeted by our front desk staff who will collect your new patient information. You’ll then be escorted to one of our open bays where a team member will inquire about any issues your child might be having.
Part of our process is known as tell, show, do. We do this to explain every step of the appointment to make your child more comfortable with what is going on. After taking X-rays of their mouth and performing a dental cleaning, we will ask if you would like them to receive additional fluoride. If so, we’ll provide it at this time. Our team will also go over diet and oral hygiene tips to keep teeth and gums healthier between appointments.
This appointment includes meeting with one of our dentists who will introduce themselves and perform a thorough oral examination. Afterward, if issues are discovered, we’ll go over the proposed treatment plan before providing your child with a small bag that consists of a new toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and other goodies. You’ll then be escorted to the front desk where a member of our team will get your child scheduled for their next appointment.

Purdy Pediatric Dentistry is pleased to work with all types of dental insurance, and we take Denti-Cal state insurance – something most other pediatric dentists do not accept. Our team will do our best to review your existing policy and find ways to help you save each time you bring your child in to see one of our dentists. This way, you can focus on what really matters – your child’s oral health.
