Dental Crowns
Our dental office is pleased to provide two options for dental crowns – stainless steel and composite (white) crowns. These are generally used when a large cavity or severe damage occurs to a tooth that can no longer support itself.
After a thorough examination of your child’s affected tooth (or teeth), we will determine which material will achieve the best results. For those located toward the back of the mouth, we use stainless steel crowns, as they are less visible and can withstand more of the chewing power that is placed on these teeth. For those located toward the front of the mouth, we will use composite crowns to create a more lifelike aesthetic.
Amalgam & Tooth-Colored Fillings
Since cavities remain a common occurrence among children, timely care must be administered to avoid further damage to their smile. This is why we offer fillings, as they are designed to fill in the affected space. Amalgam fillings are the most common type of filling we do, which offer both superior durability and strength for posterior teeth. In certain situations, we may also recommend composite resin fillings, which are color-matched to your child’s natural smile for a more seamless final result. We will clear out the diseased area before filling the tooth and creating a tight seal to prevent reinfection in the future.
Metal-Free Restorations
When your child has a cavity or a chipped tooth on a front tooth, we will provide a metal-free, white restoration made out of composite materials. We will make sure these fillings look beautiful and natural, so your child will remain confident in their appearance when going to school and being among their peers.
